What We Optimize

Every On-Page Ranking Signal, Covered

Google uses over 200 factors to rank pages. The on-page signals are the ones you control directly — and the ones most agencies only half-address.

Technical On-Page Factors

Title tags — keyword placement, character length, click-through optimization
Meta descriptions — unique, compelling, keyword-rich, under 160 characters
H1–H4 header hierarchy — one H1 per page, structured keyword signals
Canonical tags — preventing duplicate content from hurting rankings
URL structure — short, keyword-rich, no dynamic parameters
Core Web Vitals: LCP, CLS, INP tuned to Google thresholds

Content & Keyword Optimization

Keyword placement — primary term in title, H1, first 100 words, and naturally throughout
Semantic keyword coverage — LSI terms and related phrases Google expects
Content depth and word count benchmarked against top-ranking competitors
Keyword cannibalization audit — consolidating pages competing for the same term
Thin content identification and expansion roadmap
E-E-A-T signals: author bios, trust indicators, expertise markers

Internal Linking & Structure

Internal link architecture — every important page reachable within 3 clicks
Anchor text optimization — keyword-rich, varied, no over-optimization
Pillar and cluster content structure for topical authority
Orphan page identification and integration into the site architecture
Breadcrumb navigation for crawlability and SERP display
Sitelinks optimization via structured navigation signals

Schema Markup & Rich Snippets

LocalBusiness schema — name, address, phone, hours, service area
FAQPage schema — capture FAQ rich results in the SERP
Service and Product schema for service page rich results
BreadcrumbList schema for visual navigation in search results
Review / AggregateRating schema for star rating display
HowTo and Article schema for blog and educational content

Our Process

How We Optimize Your Pages

We don't run a tool and hand you a checklist. Every optimization decision is based on what the top-ranking competitors are doing and what Google is rewarding right now.

01

Keyword Mapping

We map one primary keyword to each page, identify secondary terms, and eliminate cannibalization across your site.

02

Competitor Analysis

We analyze the top 3 pages ranking for your target terms and identify exactly what they're doing that you're not.

03

On-Page Implementation

Titles, headings, content, schema, internal links, and image optimization — all updated to match and beat the competition.

04

Track & Refine

We monitor ranking movement post-implementation and make adjustments within 30 days based on Google's response.

Case Study

Edmonton HVAC Company: 7 Keywords to Page One in 45 Days

An Edmonton HVAC company had been running Google Ads for two years because their organic rankings were stuck on page 3. Their site had solid content but weak on-page signals — generic title tags, no schema, and an H1 that just said "Our Services." We optimized titles, H1s, and schema across 14 service pages, restructured their internal linking, and added FAQ schema to 6 pages. Within 45 days they had 7 of their top keywords on page one and reduced their monthly ad spend by $1,800.

"We had been told our content was the problem, so we rewrote everything. Rankings barely moved. Devebyte looked at the actual page signals and within 6 weeks we were on page one for our main keywords. The difference was in the technical on-page details, not the writing."

On-Page SEO Questions

Common questions about what on-page SEO covers and what to expect from the process.

What is on-page SEO?
On-page SEO is the practice of optimizing individual web pages to rank higher in search results. It includes title tags, meta descriptions, header structure, content quality, internal linking, image alt text, page speed, and schema markup.
How long does on-page SEO take to show results?
Most on-page changes are re-crawled by Google within 1 to 4 weeks. Ranking improvements typically appear within 30 to 60 days of implementation, depending on site authority and competition level.
Is on-page SEO a one-time fix or ongoing?
Initial optimization is a one-time project, but ongoing on-page SEO is needed as you add new content, Google updates its algorithms, and competitors improve their pages. We recommend quarterly on-page reviews at minimum.
What is keyword cannibalization?
Keyword cannibalization happens when multiple pages on your site target the same keyword, causing them to compete against each other. Google gets confused about which page to rank, and both end up ranking lower than they should.
Do you write content or just optimize existing content?
We do both. For existing pages we optimize structure, headings, keyword placement, and internal links. For new pages we write fully optimized content from scratch using keyword research and competitor analysis.
